Some people really have nothing better to do in life than to try to make themselves feel better by saying other people suck and the things they do suck.

It's sad that they haven't matured beyond the mentality of a high school sophomore.

How bad must your own life be that you constantly need to reassure yourself how great you are by telling other people how terrible they are?

Slice fruit roll ups in strips to be long enough and wide enough to wrap around the Hostess Twinkie pieces. Wrap the fruit roll ups around the Hostess Twinkie pieces. Place dried fruits and candies into the cream filling. Place Twinkie rolls on a plate or in a bento box. Garnish with strips of dried mango to resemble pickled ginger if you wish!
I finally got a new stereo in my car yesterday. I took it in for the appointed time I had set up, and when I came back over an hour later, they hadn't even started on it yet and I was upset.

I also am in my new office in the new building at work now. It's more like a real office. Before, we were just in a semi-converted house and I had a couple of divider walls around me, sitting near the kitchen area.

I bet a lot of the hotels that are already booked are for the E3 travel service reserving tons of rooms way ahead of time.

Screw attack

I went to Fred Meyer to get Metroid Prime 2 on my way to work, but they didn't have it in yet, stupid stupidheads. The dude said it'll be in the UPS shipment that comes in at 10. I hope they still have some when I get back from work.

I did decide to pick up Half-Life 2 on a whim, though.

Halo 2 is pretty fun so far. I'm in a clan online with some dudes from the Penny Arcade forums. We played a bunch of games last night and it was rockin. The headphone set is almost a necessity. Being able to talk with everyone really helps out. I like flying the Banshee and making it do loopdeloos. Sometimes I'll drive the Ghost or the Warthog(Puma) and do donuts.

Metroid Prime 2 is gonna be hell of better than Halo 2, though.

For this December, when I have my birthday, I have come up with a plan. Along the spirit of the "21 run", I have invented the "25 drive".

25 is the age where it's legal to rent a car. So on my birthday I'm gonna go out and rent a bunch of cars and drive them around for no other reason than it's legal for me to do so. Just because I can do something, it means I should go do it in excess.

Welcome to today's H.A. meeting

Hi everybody.

My name is Grant.

And I bought Halo 2.

It's hard to pinoint the moment when I decided that I would actually get this game, and to determine all the factors leading up to that decision.

It's rare I buy any games on release date any more and this wasn't even one I'm super duper excited for. In the past, Halo and indeed Xbox itself have seemed to be "the bad guy" to me. I tried to pretend to be judging it fairly, saying "Oh I'm sure it's good, I'm just not interested in it," but I was really thinking "Grr, stupid Xbox, stupid Halo, it's all stupid," even though I hadn't even played the game and I was a bit interested in it.

I knew Xbox was going to bomb. I was pretty sure it was going to bomb. I thought it may bomb. I hoped it would bomb. Dammit, it's not bombing. Now there's another system out there. I'll just tell myself that I hate it and it's a big stupidhead. I'll tell myself that it's Microsoft and MS is for sucks.

So I let it pass. And people loved Halo. I held out. And people loved Halo. I became a typical anti-fanboy, which is just as bad as any fanboy. And people loved Halo.

I suppose it's not so much Halo that I "hated", it was what it and the Xbox represented. It was the confirmation of gaming as a mainstream form of entertainment. The PlayStation started the ball rolling, but to me, it seems like Xbox really nailed it home. The type of people who would make fun of you for playing video games back in high school and grade school are now playing them. It's pretty well documented with most nerds. They started barging in on our territory.

I didn't want an Xbox because it was their system. (Well, also because I couldn't afford to buy all 3 systems and then spend money on games for all of them, but the first reason sounded better.)

I played Halo for the very first time at PAX04. I ran into some people I knew from online and they were having a bit of a party in one of the hotel rooms. I went down there and they had an Xbox on the big screen. I tried some multiplayer and it was fun. I started to put aside my blind and pointless prejudice.

Xbox is here and it's not going anywhere. It has good games. I still believe that PS2 and GameCube have more good games, but Xbox is not a useless machine.

I picked one up a few weeks ago with Halo. Halo is fun. It's not the earth-shatteringly amazing game that many people believe it is, but I enjoy playing it. I even enjoy the single player mode a decent amount. (Mostly because I don't have opportunity to play multiplayer. I wish I had more friends nearby.) A couple of the games that we (The Weekly Geek) have been sent, I opted for the Xbox version, just to have more games for it, and to see how they play on it.

Gabe and Tycho (Penny Arcade) didn't enjoy the Halo single player. They seem to really like Halo 2 single player.

I think some of the hype did rub off a little bit on me.

I've also been considering getting into Live.

I think I also wanted to get in at the beginning this time, to be able to have a valid, logic based opinion right away.

I went down to Fred Meyer this morning on my way to work. I walked in and noticed a few people walking out the with purple bag, symbolic of the electronics department. There were about 10 people in line at said department. Apparently, there was a big line out front before the store opened and I overheard that the store recieved 200-some copies of the game. If they didn't have any in, it was no big deal. They did have some left, so I got one from the man behind the counter.

I bought Halo 2.

I may not even play it right away. I haven't finished the first one yet. But I'm close.

I still feel a little dirty, but I'm sure that will pass. I'll probably enjoy the game, but I'm not gonna be a mindless fanboy. But now, I'm not a mindless anti-fanboy either.

Frodo's probably gonna flip out a bit.
